About the project

The Caval Ridge mine is the largest greenfield coal-mining complex in Australia located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland. In collaboration with BMD, Empower delivered a design and construct project including civil and services design for the early works package on the Caval Ridge mine.

Scope

Empower were contracted to deliver the mine infrastructure including pavements, roads, fuel farms, services and associated buildings required to service and assist with mining operations. Empower provided detailed design elements for facilities pads, (earthworks, offices, cribs, storage warehouses, fuel facilities) connecting roads, pavement designs for mine construction vehicles and creek crossings.

Outcomes

The collaborative approach to a unique integrated design and construct offering meant that the job continually moved forward, effectively overcame challenges and mitigated delays.

With design changing across the site on a number of fronts, regular and constant communication with the client was necessary to stay on top of evolving information.

Empower responded with quick turnaround options for the client to provide them inputs that they could take to other corporate considerations.
