About the project

Empower was engaged to undertake the civil design, sub consultant coordination, construction supervision and certification of the RAAF Base development. Empower developed layout options to meet an evolving brief and provided value engineering initiatives for the client.

Scope

The project’s scope involved the design and construction of 80 housing lots for Defence Housing Australia, including consideration of sensitive stormwater environment and contamination constraints. The project required short turnaround iterations to respond to changing site requirements.

Outcomes

The design work had to overcome unforeseen site contamination issues due to the site being brownfield along with issues with the existing stormwater.

Tree retention was a key driver for the client and the earthworks design creatively retained as much of the existing vegetation in the development as possible.

Empower met compressed design timeframes to ensure construction commenced before the wet season.
