About the project
Empower successfully delivered the detailed design and construction phase management of a new artesian water bore, 15 lot subdivision and stormwater drainage solution for the Kowanyama community.
Empower undertook the detailed design, community and stakeholder liaison (including with Traditional Owners), tender documentation preparation, tender review, assessment and award, construction superintendence and certification for the project.
Scope
Empower was engaged to confirm the priority of proposed infrastructure work and under the not to be exceed budget prepare the design for water, sewer, roads and drainage infrastructure works along with a new 15 lot subdivision.
Empower were innovative in the design concepts to address the security of water supply including new bore production and standby generator, refurbishment of sewer pump stations and general infrastructure works. As the Kowanyama community is located on a flood plain, Empower’s design approach to stormwater management included re-grading existing open drains and constructing new open drains.
Outcomes
Through the successful delivery of Empower’s scope on this project, Empower contributed to capacity building in the remote Aboriginal community of Kowanyama.
